Notre Dame -
An international religious family
St. Julie Billiart was willing to leave her native France because she believed that her daughters were to carry the Gospel of God’s goodness throughout the world. Sr. M. Aloysia was willing to leave behind her native Germany to serve in America. From its German cradle in 1850, the Coesfeld community has grown into an international family brightening the lives of people from many countries and cultures with the light of education and other ministries, the witness to God’s goodness and provident care, and the love of Mary. Communities of the Sisters of Notre Dame are now located in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Oceania, and East Africa. They form a multicolored patchwork of different customs, histories, languages, foods, ways of life, art and values. They enrich the Church and the Congregation.
