In 1949 the Sisters of Notre Dame of Christ the King Province opened a mission in Jamalpur, India. Over more than 50 years 18 Sisters from the Chardon Province have served as missionaries in India, and 240 Indian women have become professed Sisters of Notre Dame. Now the Sisters of Notre Dame in India have been established as Our Lady of the Assumption Province. The Sisters of Notre Dame of Chardon continue to support the mission in India. Sisters from Christ the King Province also serve in Notre Dame missions in The Philippines and Uganda, Africa, and provide significant support for the ND Missions in Tanzania and Kenya.
