World Day for Consecrated Life

His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, will preside at Solemn Vespers at the Vatican on Thursday, February 2, 2012, Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, to celebrate World Day for Consecrated Life. This day, instituted by Blessed John Paul II in 1997, gives the Church an opportunity to ponder and give thanks to God for the gift of the consecrated life. In the United States, the World Day of Consecrated Life, will be celebrated on Sunday, February 5, 2012. This will enable the faithful to observe this day in the context of the parish setting. May we thank God for the gift of our consecrated life and share this gift in both word and example with those whom we come in contact with this coming weekend.

Your Action is Needed!
Fracking is a method of extracting natural gas. This method poses a direct threat to our drinking water and health. Large quantities of water are mixed with sand and toxic chemicals and these are injected into the ground to release methane gas. The waste mixture is not easily disposed of and has poisoned ecosystems. Ohio is slated to have thousands of drilling sites. Michigan, Pennsylvania and New York are already seeing huge problems of water contamination due to fracking.
Join Water for Life and the Food and Water Watch to ban fracking. Go to www.foodandwaterwatch.org/fracking; click the green "take action" button in the red "Warning Flammable Gas" frame. Water is a sacred right of all life. Please join in making this a reality.
Corporate Stance:

The following is the corporate stance statement: We, the Sisters of Notre Dame of the Chardon Provice, respecting the inherent dignity of each person, corporately stand in support of human rights by explicitly opposing the trafficking of women, children, and men for the purposes of sexual exploitation and forced labor. We will make every effort to assist victims of trafficking and to end human trafficking in our world.
