Meet a Sister of Notre Dame
To be a Sister of Notre Dame means to be so captivated by the love of Jesus that I'm impelled to spread that love wherever I am. Jesus chooses me to carry his mission by being a compassionate presence in and among his poor ones. I experience intense joy among our African brothers and sisters. Preparing young women to be future Sisters of Notre Dame gives hope to our church and world that his compassionate love will continue to be witnessed through them.

To be a Sister of Notre Dame means inheriting another full, God-entered history along with my own. It means belonging to God and to this world in appreciation of of His care and in gratitude for His goodness.

I spend time daily "inserting myself" into God's communication with me and all his people. I rejoice in belonging entirely to Him in the spirit of Julie Billiart and those who forged our heritage, and hopefully I let it show through my interaction with others. It may also show through my various activities, especially through the oil painting I do. There's so much of God's beauty and reality to display.

To be a Sister of Notre Dame is to be centered on radiating the goodness of God in whatever we do, and embracing that goodness in all who come into our lives, be it our Sisters in community, students we teach, or adults we meet as collaborators or as those to whom we minister. In my days of transition from teaching high school to working in the chaplaincy program as St. Vincent Charity Hospital, I see this as my way of sharing Christ with others and truly following the call of God to me to this community.

Living my life as a Sister of Notre Dame is to live every day with deep joy in following God's call to serve his people. As a hospice chaplain, I have the privilege of being a companion to the dying. It is my hope to bring comfort and peace and to be an instrument of God's love to those who are journeying home to God and their families.

Being a Sister of Notre Dame means belonging deeply to a wonderful group of Sisters, who share one passionate, simple aim: To help people experience the love that an infinitely Good God has for each individual. And we do this as a group, world-wide! The fiery sun is continually coming up on some of us in another part of the world with another day to accomplish this aim which is bigger than any of us. We do it in many different ways. I teach Sacred Scripture in a Seminary to future priests, a unique opportunity to fuel the fire of God's loving goodness in those who will carry it to millions more. I am deeply privileged to be a Sister of Notre Dame with this mission.

I think that a Sister of Notre Dame believes deeply in God's goodness and provident care and wants to share that belief with all of God's people, especially the poor. I think that through our ministries and our living in community we try to proclaim God active and alive in the world today. I minister in an inner-city school in Cleveland. The children in our school and in our neighborhood look to us to learn non-violence, Gospel values, and to get a glimpse of the overwhelming love of God. We believe that education is the way to stop the cycle of poverty in which many of our families are trapped. I live in a vibrant community dedicated to ministry, to one another, and to Notre Dame. We live, pray and play together, supporting one another in our efforts to proclaim God's goodness and provident care each day.

The religious vows, to me, are the way of giving oneself to God in the most complete way. Being a Sister of Notre Dame gives me the opportunity to live these vows in a community of women sharing the same values. When we love God, we also must love those God loves. As a member of this community I am called and have the opportunity to serve others, especially the poor and the marginalized.

As a pastoral minister in a predominantly Hispanic community I have the opportunity to bring Christ to others through my presence and caring. More concretely, I am able to lead parishioners, both children and adults, on their path to the Word of God and the Sacraments. As a member of a parish pastoral staff I am an important part of the structure of the Mystical Body of Christ.
