Why Support the Sisters of Notre Dame

The Sisters of Notre Dame of Chardon, Ohio have shared in the mission of Jesus for 133 years, witnessing God’s goodness and provident care to all people. Active both within the United States and internationally, the Sisters serve in a variety of ministries. Much of their work has been among the poor, honoring their apostolic roots. The Sisters of Notre Dame consistently endeavor to proclaim the Lord’s presence and the message of the Gospel to the underserved in places and circumstances that are often extremely challenging.

There are 370 Sisters of Notre Dame of Chardon, Ohio, who are involved in 128 institutions. Sisters are educators; serve as directors of religious education and pastoral administrators and ministers in sixteen dioceses; teach adult literacy; are missionaries in the Philippines, Tanzania, and Nicaragua; provide health care; work at the international organization Food for the Poor; serve as a non-governmental organization at the United Nations; minister in national organizations such as the Center of Concern, the National Catholic Education Association, and the Paulist National Evangelization Association; and serve God’s people as authors, writers, artists, musicians, social justice advocates, prayer line partners, and counselors.
