Planned Giving

Wolbring Giving Society

This past winter, a Planned Giving Society for the Sisters of Notre Dame was officially established. The society is named The Wolbring Giving Society in honor of their foundress, Hilligonde Wolbring. Born in Holland in 1828, Hilligonde was orphaned by age seven and was taken to Germany to live with relatives. Having become a teacher at St. Lambert’s Parish in Coesfeld, she planned with the help of her friend and colleague, Elisabeth Kuhling, to draw upon her modest inheritance to provide a caring home for the poor and neglected children in their school.

Hilligonde’s vision sparked a new charitable work and a religious congregation. The Sisters of Notre Dame continue to share in her vision and mission and invite you, their friends and benefactors, to be part of this same mission. Your support with a planned gift continues to proclaim God’s goodness and provident care into the future, a legacy that extends beyond your lifetime. This is a significant way of supporting the charism and mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame for the future.

What is planned giving?

Planned giving is a method that allows the maximum use of charitable donations. It often enables a person to make a gift initially thought to be beyond one’s means. Depending on circumstances, gift planning may also involve state and federal tax advantages.

What are the benefits to you?

Careful planning can diminish or even eliminate income taxes (including capital gains) and transfer taxes (gift, estate, and inheritance).

Some ways to give:

Bequests, deferred gift annuities, trusts, life insurance, and retirement/pension funds are some of the ways to donate.

NOTE: These are not all the options. Donors should work with a professional financial advisor, an estate planner, or an attorney to determine the gift type that might best suit your needs and goals.
