Friends of Notre Dame
Our Mission
The Friends of the sisters of Notre Dame assist the sisters in the fulfillment of their ministry to the people of God. Members of the Friends of the Sisters pledge to pray daily for the welfare, guidance and openness to the Spirit of each Sister. They make every effort to actively volunteer for and with the Sisters to implement various resources to extend and enrich all ministries.
Who may join?
All individuals who are interested in sharing in the mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame are cordially invited to join. Adults, senior citizens, teenagers and children are encouraged to participate individually or as a family to share their talents in a variety of volunteer capacities.
Our Purpose
Our Purpose Some mission-sharing opportunities are:
- Volunteering for annual event planning and activities
- Assisting in clerical and office duties such as typing, filing, collating, etc.
- Acting as a parish representative in promoting Notre Dame Activities
- Sharing talents and expertise with the Sisters of their community-owned schools in various trades or skills like graphic design, landscaping, carpentry, and computer technology.
- Serving on committees or ad hoc projects in areas such as finance, development, public relations, buildings and grounds.
- Helping Sisters in community outreach activities such as nursing home visits, student tutoring and inner-city projects
- And most important, praying daily for the Sisters and their ministries.
Spiritual Benefits of Membership
The Friends are invited to join the Sisters annually in a celebration of liturgy at the Notre Dame Educational Center to thank God for all of the blessings bestowed on our Notre Dame family.
The spiritual benefits of Friends membership include:
- Remembrance in the daily prayers of the Sisters.
- Monthly liturgy for the intentions of all members--and the intentions of the perpetual members of he former Notre Dame Guild.
- Weekly liturgies in November for all deceased members, relatives and friends, and listing of deceased loved ones on the Sisters’ prayer list. Members may submit names of loved ones to be prayed for during the month of All Souls.
- Special prayer intentions are welcomed at anytime for illness, surgery, or other family or personal intentions.
- Regular mailings of the Netmaker newsletter and the Annual Report of the Sisters of Notre Dame.
Special recognition of all financial commitments to the furtherance of the ministries of the sisters of Notre Dame.
